My research shows that the BALL family originated in Somerset, England.
The earliest family members I can find are William BALL (my 4th G Grandfather) b. abt 1770 in Somerset, England; married on 20 Feb 1798 to Martha WILLIAMS b. 1773 in Winscombe, Somerset, England and they had 1 child that is known, a son, William (1795).
William BALL b. abt 1795 in Winscombe, Somerset, England (my 3rd G Grandfather); married abt 1820 to Ann TWITT b. abt 1798 and they had 11 children - James (1819), Mary Ann (1821-1821), Sylvester (1825), William (1825), Mary (1826-1863), Louisa (1827), Solomon (1832-1885), George (1833), Ann (1835-1846), Samuel (1838-1839) and Samuel (1842-1843). William passed away on 29 Sep 1869 at Banwell, Somerset, England and was buried on 2 Oct 1869 at Banwell, Somerset, England.
Solomon BALL b. Dec 1832 in Banwell, Somerset, England (my 2nd G Grandfather); married on 31 Oct 1855 to Frances Victoria HEMMENS b. Mar 1830 and they had 8 children - Elizabeth Ann (1858-1934), Henry William (1860-1863), Frances Victoria (1861-1895), Henry William 'Harry' (1864-1951), Charles Edward (1865-1930), Louisa Caroline (1867-1941), Jane Ann (1870-1950) and Edward James Owen 'James' (1872-1929). Solomon passed away on 28 Dec 1885 at Sailor's Gully, Near Beaufort, Victoria, Australia and was buried on 30 Dec 1885 at Beaufort Cemetery
Charles Edward BALL b. abt 1865 in Sailor's Gully, Ripon, Victoria, Australia (my 1st G Grandfather); married on 1 Sep 1887 at Main Lead, Victoria, Australia to Mary Julia Margurite POWELL (1863-1938) and they had 6 children - Frances Jane 'Janie' (1888), James Edward 'Jim' (1889-1962), Mary Julia 'Sis' (1889-1974), George Henry Snr (1891-1969), Marguerite Elizabeth 'Madge' (1893-1958) and Charles Arthur 'Arthur' (1894-1969). Charles Edward passed away on 3 Nov 1930 at Beaufort, Victoria, Australia and was buried on 5 Nov 1930 at Beaufort Cemetery.

Marguerite Elizabeth 'Madge' BALL b. 2 Jul 1893 in Raglan, Victoria, Australia (my Grandmother); married on 11 Aug 1917 at Beaufort, Victoria, Australia to Leslie Frankland 'Les' STRINGER (1896-1985) and they had 6 children - Edward James 'Eddie' (1917-1988) Marjorie Frances 'Marj' (1919-1981), Norman Leslie 'Norm' (1921-liv), Owen Franklin 'Frank' (1923-liv), Beryl Margaret 'Bee' (1927-1988) and Joan Isobel (1933-liv). Marguerite Elizabeth passed away on 28 Jul 1958 at Red Cliffs, Victoria, Australia and was buried on 30 Jul 1958 at Red Cliffs Pioneer Cemetery.

Marjorie Frances 'Marj' STRINGER b. 4 Oct 1919 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia (my wonderful Mother); married on 12 Jul 1940 to Harold Ernest 'Harry' MORTIMORE (1914-2005) and they had 3 children - Evelyn Margaret (1943-liv), John Leslie (1944-liv) and Janette Elaine 'Jan' (1949-1950). Marjorie Frances passed away on 11 Feb 1981 at Robinvale, Victoria, Australia and was buried on 13 Feb 1981 at Robinvale General Cemetery.
